Chapter XI: Dawn over Amerika (The Day the Dollar Died Series)
by John Galt
January 6, 2010
Just a brief note about this chapter. For those that remember the old ABC miniseries Amerika, the striking resemblance of our compliance should a major no-win national emergency occur might just happen a lot faster than most of us might think. Thus the spelling in this week’s chapter and remember, everything below this portion is FICTION……

WHACK! And with a sudden sharp pain in his back Tom fell out of the chair by the front window stunned by the object that just struck him. As he started to shake the cobwebs out of his head and wake up, reaching for the gun he forgot to put back in the holster, there was a very pissed off mother-in-law. “I told you not to fall asleep you idiot. Do you really think I want to die in my sleep because you got drunk and lazy? Get out of my chair and where the hell is my pistol?” Lillian said in about the rudest method she knew how to get a point across along with some strategically placed South Georgia cursings in case he wasn’t listening. Tom, stunned still from the cane slapping him in the back, looked around the room and then realized he left the pistol on the kitchen table. Like a scolded school kid he walked over to the table, gently picked the pistol up and handed it to his mother-in-law. “Mom, I…” Tom started before he was cut off. “I don’t want to hear it. Right now your wife and I could be held hostage by a gang and God knows what because you just HAD to get a nap in. Do you understand what the hell is happening out there? That fire you saw if probably that damned city of Atlanta being burned down by the gangs” and with that utterance by Lillian, Tom sulked to the bedroom to get some seriously overdue shut eye, mumbling under his breath down the hallway.
Lillian had seen it all in her lifetime so this was just one more step out the door in her mind. As she carefully placed the revolver in the holster, she then reached into her purse and grabbed the shoulder holster portion it clipped on to. “I guess I should have told him I had this part too” she thought to herself, smiling as she knew exactly how to deal with the situation at hand, at least in her mind. She sat down in the rocking chair after sliding it in front of the front picture window. Then she grabbed her cell phone out of her purse and set it on vibrate with an alarm that would go off every forty-five minutes and clipped it on her holster. “I’m not falling asleep like slacker boy” she thought to herself. She loved Tom but this was not the time to be tender or thoughtful. The children had been spoiled by a life of peace, quiet and pretty much having everything handed to them. Now they were going to learn what earning survival was all about.
The radio Tom was playing with was set to WSB on 750 AM but she fiddled with it to see if any of the other old clear channel stations came in or perhaps some South Georgia stations might be resisting the takeover of the airwaves. “Hmmm, let’s see if old Steve is still talking to the truckers” and with that idea in her head she tuned the radio to 700 on the dial looking for WLW’s famous “Talking to the Trucker’s” program and praying that someone was still doing their job to keep America informed. As she turned the volume down a wee bit so as not to disturb her kids, the music that blared out made her feel much better about the situation with the old Jerry Reed song ‘Wabash Cannonball’ which relieved her greatly that the entire nation hadn’t gone to hell in a hand basket. “3:37 a.m., sheesh, seven is a long, long way away” she whispered to herself.
There was no announcement after the song and for once it was back to back with some old Glen Campbell. She thought to herself about how unusual it was for Steve Sommers to play songs back to back without taking calls from truckers in between. “I wonder if it really is that bad out there” she muttered under her breath. As she grabbed her cane and walked into the kitchen to turn off the Mr. Coffee and clean up the mess from earlier. The pot had some hardened coffee on the bottom which would require a little scrubbing later on but to her it meant that the pot was flavored properly and ready for some Maxwell House extra dosage. After starting the pot off with six scoops for just eight cups, she wandered back to the chair and radio to hear the end of that old song that annoyed her when she was younger and still did to this day called ‘Wichita Lineman’ which in her mind was not Glen’s best.
The song ended and instead of some chatter, they went right into the worst of worst of Glen Campbell’s songs “Rhinestone Cowboy” at which point Lillian debated shooting the radio or changing stations. As the music churned on Lillian got up and grabbed her mug and said to herself “Screw this” and walked back to check the progress of good old reliable Mr. Coffee. “Thank God the power came on while Tom was asleep. I would have died without coffee” Lillian whispered as she poured a double cup of super strong coffee while the drip spilled over on to the counter top. With that, she settled back down into the chair by the window and the song ended with the voice that relieved her at first announcing “This is Truckin’ Steve Sommers with my new partner Frankie Wilkes, a Sergeant in the United States Army’s One Hundred and First Airborne Division here to chat the night away with all you truckers trying to keep the New America moving! God Love you guys that didn’t shut it down, we need your help and efforts from coast to coast to keep America moving, fed and get this economy moving again.” Lillian almost spilled all of the coffee on her lap with that announcement. But here it was three forty-six in the morning and the old ways were apparently changed on radio and for good within her comfortable little world. As Lillian slurped a deep gulp of the maximum strength coffee, Steve Sommers started an announcement:
“This morning’s checkpoints and security escorts will start at I-75 North of Cincinnati at the Highway 63, Hamilton-Lebanon Road exit; at I-74 westbound at exit 1 the New Haven Road exit; at exit 16 off I-275 in Indiana the Belleview Avenue exit; the checkpoint at North Bend Road, exit 237 is now closed to all non-essential traffic but the check point on I-275 is still open; on the Southbound side off I-75 y’all need to get off at exit 184-B in Kentucky at Commonwealth Avenue for your escort assignments and checkpoint clearance; at the fork in the road of I-471 and I-275 southbound at the US 27 exit; and finally at Exit 59B the Milford Parkway exit for US Highway 50 going eastbound. All other exits on I-75, I-71, I-74, I-275, and I-471 are pretty much closed unless you have the Blue Permit for the next 48 hours. I apologize that I couldn’t do more but the cute Sarge here is telling me we’ll cover Indianapolis and Columbus Ohio on the next break. For local information tune to 1610 AM or Channel 8 on your CB to find out routings, closings, and more. This is Steve Sommers and now more music.”

“Wake up son!” Mr. Lewis said as I was dead asleep in the other chair, losing track of time as he spun through the dials of his rigs looking for news. I was startled after only getting about two hours of sleep over the last twenty-four but his sources of information kept me fixated until finally I drifted off. I stood up and stretched, taking a swig of the now cold coffee and as I wiped the grunge out of my eyes and shook my head I noticed the time. “One minute until noon! I’ve got to get home” I yelled. “Calm down son, that’s GMT, not local, you can’t go home for another hour. Besides, don’t you want to know the news you’ve missed the last two hours?” Mr. Lewis said almost laughingly watching me panic for a brief moment.
He began, “Don’t worry, you can stay one more hour and when curfew is over, wow, will you have some tall tales for the wife. The news from Asia is that all container ships heading for the United States under Taiwanese, Japanese, or Chinese flags are to stop at any non-American port before proceeding. Worse, the government of Singapore froze all of our assets in their banks and ordered all U.S. Dollars to be turned into the banks by noon tomorrow. I guess they want to get them all together to insure that there are no loose ends when they tell us to screw off.” Mr. Lewis was usually not this frank but now I was somewhat stunned. I asked him “Are we at war or something now?” Mr. Lewis laughed and dribbled some coffee down his chin while replying “Uh, no. Unless you count Goldman Sachs as the First Marine Division and President Obama as one of the Generals in the economic war. We’re getting shut down worldwide and the countries who have been holding our I.O.U.’s are demanding payment in full immediately. I guess this means we’re about to see what happens when the proverbial fan meets the big two hundred pound bag of fertilizer. These moron’s think they can intimidate the world and the rest of the world is mocking us on their domestic broadcasts. Hush now, let’s grab the nine o’clock evening news from Tokyo.
“This is Radio Japan and now the news. The American government has refused to release any gold reserves for foreign governments stored in their New York City reserve bank vaults. As a result of this, all American assets within the territories of the government of Japan are now frozen. All container ships have been ordered back to port. All transactions with the United States are officially frozen until the United States Treasury elects to inform us when obligations will be met in full using either payments in gold, commodities, or a non-dollar denominated currency acceptable to the Japanese Government.
In other news from the region, the Mexican government was arrested by the new military junta which has declared a state of martial law and frozen all U.S. assets at all financial institutions and the Mexican military has been deployed along the U.S. border to prevent their migrant population from returning home and U.S. citizens from crossing. The Republic of South Africa has temporarily adopted a gold standard for the rand pegging the valuation of one hundred rand per ounce of gold, thus becoming the first nation to abandon a floating currency standard in the world. In Israel, the government has adopted the Euro and the Yuan as the only non-Shekel denominated currencies acceptable for trade in commerce outside of its borders. Lastly, the Indian government has terminated all business contracts with United States corporations and the U.S. government until guarantees of payment in a viable currency alternative to the dollar is presented by the American government.”
I looked over at Mr. Lewis and said “Uh, I’ve got to get home. This is spiraling out of control. I should never have left my wife.” Mr. Lewis nodded but grabbed my arm and said “Let’s try to call up some local contacts on two meters. Maybe they can tell us what is going on around here. We’re flying blind and you don’t need to be a hero and go out and get shot and leave your wife a widower.” He handed me an old citizen band radio walkie-talkie and told me how to use it and that if he ever needed my help to call out on Channel 39 as he has one radio tuned in there at all times. I sighed and thanked him as I had no communications at the moment with the phones being down and we resume dour band scanning to find out what else was happening to our nation. Despite taking a chance and calling out for his friends locally, there was no answer on any of the usual frequencies which seemed to disturb the old man greatly.
As his clock finally ticked over to eight o’clock local time, I left his house in broad daylight, expecting to see crazy people riding off road vehicles like the movie “Mad Max” but instead, things were disturbingly calm in Southwest Florida. I headed down the street and one of his neighbors was mowing their lawn as if nothing has happened. Another house had people painting the front of it as nothing was going on while the house beside that one had an elderly couple out front raking the leaves up and trimming their hedges. I thought to myself, “Was I drunk the last three days?” but kept on walking to the cul-de-sac where I lived, still stunned by what I had just seen and the news that I had heard. The old street sign was still there but as I rounded the corner I was somewhat freaked out to see my house and the condition it was in. “JAMES! WHAT HAPPENED TO MY HOUSE!” I started to scream at my neighbor’s home as I ran down the street. At this point in time I was beyond rational thinking because of what I had just seen.

“Sally, I want you to call 911 and find out if what she heard was the truth” Mike said. Mike continued, “I don’t buy the story. The military would have contacted her, not some strange phone call from an unknown entity. If her husband was hit they would have come to get her or tell her, no matter how bad the situation is. I think they just wanted her out of her house.” Sally looked stunned and then realized that her husband who was just duped by a bunch of thieves might just be right. He has always been the suspicious type so this story hit home.
Sally called 911 and to her shock an operator answered and she went into the long story about last night’s events. The operator politely listened and then said “Ma’am the checkpoint just started this morning. Whoever called your friend is a fraud. We’re going to send a unit over to Deputy Monckton’s house to check things out.” Mike was right and now Sally felt relieved. Then again, that relief was over with when there was a loud knocking on the door. Mike grabbed the shotgun by the sofa and walked over to the door, peering into the peephole to see two men from the military at his door. Mike rested the gun behind the door and cracked it open slowly. “Mike Elmendorff? My name is Sergeant Blaine with the Minnesota National Guard. We’re here to register and inventory all firearms in this household. Can we come in please sir.?” The professionalism of the military did not shock Mike but the question he asked caused him to retort somewhat curtly “What the hell do you need that information for and why should I register any thing with you? I need to know before I open this door. When did the Constitution die in our country?”
February 25, 2010 07:05 A.M. Central Time – DeWitt, AR
“Pastor Lewis, my name is Lieutenant Wilson Akers of the third Arkansas Federalized Military District command. You have been brought in here with a wild story about a farmer being attacked, and undocumented citizens and migrants occupying your church at this time. Is this information correct?” Pastor Lewis was still in a state of shock after being stripped down and subjected to full body cavity search in a tent then handcuffed to twenty-five other prisoners in the holding tent wearing only his undershorts. The entire experience had him hesitant to speak and when he did, all he could utter was a shaky “Uh, yes sir, but…” and before he could finish the Lieutenant cut him off. “With the revelation that you have admitted to the accusations, I will need for you to sign here sir” and he pointed at a freshly computer printed form which stated that he acknowledged he violated curfew in a willing manner and that he sheltered other violators of the new General Act 1 of 2010 of the United States Federalized Law Enforcement Code. “Uh, sir, I want to call my lawyer before I sign anything. Bless you my son for doing your job, but I do not wish to surrender my rights by signing anything until I can call my lawyer” the gentle Pastor said.
The Lieutenant nodded his head, motioned for the MP to take the Pastor back to holding and then yelled out “Captain, we’ve got another Perry Mason. Should I follow order seven or just wait for the JAG?” The Captain in the back tent adjoining the interview area said “Is this the case of that liberal lying Lutheran or somebody else? I need to know!” The Lieutenant looked over at Pastor Lewis as the plastic zip cuffs were tightened around his hands behind his back then yelled out “No sir. This is a good old fashioned Baptist nutcase who doesn’t read the news or obey instructions.” The Captain pondered what was just said and yelled back “Take him to tent five and turn the heat off in there. Perhaps we’ll get all the turkeys to talk at once to get the information we need about the Little Rock incident.”
February 25, 2010 10:05 A.M. Central Time – Florida Panhandle
The massive mobilization and loaning of a National Guard Huey helicopter accelerated the ability of the Florida State Patrol to locate their fallen man. As the search combed far and wide around Sparks a trooper yelled out “Hey, I’ve found a body, over here everyone!” and that started the mad rush and sad consequence of finding Trooper Margate’s body, face down riddled with bullet holes in a ditch that was half frozen over from the late season winter cold snap. The ice would have melted without the sunshine this morning as fourteen state troopers wanted to exact revenge for the killing of their partner. Before they could even start to mutter obscenities or cry further about their discovery, the radio crackled with “Vehicle located, Unit 129 on the roof. It would appear that Margate’s cruiser is about 3 miles West Northwest of your location. Captain, should we land and investigate or wait for back up?” the chopper commander asked.
Captain Franklin was exhausted from five straight days on duty. This incident marked the fifth trooper killed in two days and he had has his limit. He grabbed the mike off of his chest and spoke into the mike “You take them sum bitches out. I’m tired of playing nice and these animals escaping. If they are camped there, take them all out, we can’t lose any more troopers!” and with that he slammed the mike back on to its clip on his shoulder. The chopper commander acknowledged and began to fire on a camp with the squad car and what appeared to be a lot of criminal looking and questionable elements. The machine guns on the Huey were old but quite effective. Even thought it was not a G.E. mini-gun he was able to chop the squad car up pretty good and also take out the gangster elements below. After a few minutes over the target he yelled into the radio “Most of the targets eliminated, some might show up on foot heading your way. Air Guard seventeen heading back to base. Out.”
Little did they know that two weeks later a group of transients would discover their group of now dead transients. The ones all shot to hell and back with bodies scattered everywhere. The location was now where six men, six women and thirteen children were killed. The government thought they had eliminated the criminal element, despite the fact that all the criminals did was abandon the vehicle near the homeless encampment hours after killing Trooper Margate. Everyone was a criminal now, in the eyes of the officers being shot at every day and caution before action might get you killed. The problem is that for every officer who cared, how many did not care, and were more than willing to abandon the rule of law to protect their lives or the new government orders being sent down almost hourly. Time would tell as freedom was dying daily now, just like some had foreseen and prayed would not happen.

This is where I disagree with the author, people are going to start rebelling, Militias and Patriot groups will rise and there will be a great deal of violence. Our Military is not a monolithic monster officers and enlisted men think about what they are doing. It is far more likely our military will split into 3 factions, those that will blindly follow orders any orders, those that will help, protect the innocent or simply stay in their bases and those that will side with the American People.
This is how a Civil War starts and believe me we are heading for a very uncivilized Civil War.

Reading the Exit closures in Cincinnati section gave me Chills. You hit 10 out of 10 in the black with that section. WOW.
Keep up the good work. Hopefully this will remain as a piece of Fiction.(though I doubt it, only time will tell.)

It doesn’t happen overnight. And if you think AR-15s are any match for AH-64’s go for it. I’ll work smarter, survive longer and find a more practical methodology rather than running out like a fool and getting cut in half.

This story is starting to lose its charm for me, and veering towards the implausible, particularly with the inhumanity displayed by the military (as in the case of the Pastor).
As a (no longer active duty) Marine I can assure you that at least my service stressed every man’s responsibility to follow *lawful* orders, and that “just following orders” was no defense if we erred. Furthermore, those of us who’ve sacrificed many of our freedoms in order to be ready and available to defend yours would treat our citizens with a good deal more dignity than that.
Now, I’ll warrant there will always be a portion which will stupidly do what they’re told unquestioning, but I do not believe it could happen to this magnitude. Civilian law enforcement, on the other hand, I can see going down this dark path. While many are good men (and veterans) as a whole they’ve only been minimally interested in the constitutional rights of their citizenry. Especially on gun issues.
Just my $0.02. Enjoy the site and most of this story. Just remember, the biggest scares for this kind of literature lies in its plausibility. Don’t lose that.

Interesting read. As I read some of the other comments some points are raised. However, the truth is some will follow orders and some will not. I think the major concern is the amount of blue helmets in this country right now, not the US military.

Another good post… I think you are correct in how fast the “people in charge” will get jaded, overwhelmed and just process people and follow orders etc. Think about law enforcement now… there are good checks and balances in place and when you argue… even if you are correct.. they will tell you “save it for the judge”… point being YOU DO HAVE a day in court. Without representation you are the next guys problem in your senario… presents interesting questions as to who gets to solve the problem.
Keep going…

As far as local/State Law enforcement goes well I wouldn’t put anything past them as one poster above commented they have shown themselves more than willing as a whole to ignore or stomp on constitutional rights in all corners of America. The same goes with Federal Agents.
The military is iffy. Katrina showed that military units would violate the constitution and if a government called up guard and reserve units and them moved them to another area then figure the ones who showed up and went would follow all orders, those who had issues more than likely wouldn’t muster.
Active military would depend so much on the field grade officers and how they swung. The junior officers and enlisted would be hard pressed to ignore even an unconstitutional order when failure to comply would mean almost instant field grade court marshal with a bullet to the head in a scenario as this there wouldn’t be an appeal or a military court with a watching pubic for an officer or soldier to make his case known. Also so many soldiers are immigrants these days or ethnically biased that depending onthe area they may not really care.
just my thoughts.

As I was reading the latest installment I was thinking that this is only five days into the crisis, 7 if one counts the Friday market and weekend overseas meeting. Sunday night (the 21st) and Monday morning was basically the starting gun for the citizenry to really have their lives affected. By the evening of the 24th we have Atlanta burning. It took less than a week to go from normalcy to full chaos.
Some readers, since John started writing this on November 18th, may have lost sight of how fast events are unfolding. Focusing just on the internal US conditions for the moment, why does John have Atlanta burning? This question is relevant for more than a few readers since most are probably urban and suburban dwellers.
Atlanta, and by proxy all urban locations, is burning for 2 reasons. First, city services will quickly start to degrade as travel becomes difficult. Basic services like water, sewage, power, medical, fire department, communications and road crews need the workers to be able to get to their jobs every day and for 3 shifts. It will not just be the police that are stressed and tired from pulling multiple shifts. Events will quickly follow the pattern of: For want of a nail, a shoe was lost. For want of a shoe a horse was lost. For want of a horse, a rider was lost and on until the battle was lost. Lose enough battles and the war is lost.
In a nutshell, this is why so many here are stressing the need to become more independent. A currency crisis puts the interdependent system at risk. Folks dependent on the system with no fall back on their own resources will either sit home and die (think elderly and sick) or go out and collect what they need (by force and think gangs or mobs).
Which brings me to the second reason why Atlanta is burning. The current system in America depends on bribes being delivered, every day, for those in power to stay in power. The promised bribes (delivered in exchange for enough votes on election day) take the form of those welfare checks, food stamps, subsidized utilities, medical care, and housing. But the checks do no good if the bank is closed and food stamps are useless if the stores are empty. The fast food restaurants won’t be open and a lot of poor eat there instead of cooking at home. Soup kitchens will be out of resources within 2 days, so no help there. Churches today, except for some Mormons, don’t stock edibles.
Food resources for those on welfare, unemployment and social security are very thin. Even those with jobs, the middle class and up, have the majority of these people practicing a “just-in-time” going to the store for supplies. Here the law of large numbers comes into play as this involves tens (possibly hundreds) of millions of people. Certainly by day 4 the number involved passes the hundred million mark. Spreading local power and water outages add to the mix.
I’m sure several of the readers here look forward to the weekly chapter since it is an entertaining story. And as John points out each week, it is a fictional account. Many of you might have an issue or two with some of the sub plots, especially within the first 5 days. But keep in mind the starting premise: America is heading for a currency crisis. You either believe the arguments for this premise or you don’t. If you believe a currency crisis is coming then consider what happened when Iceland, Argentina, and Russia (the last 3 countries to have such a crisis). In all 3 cases, the stores were emptied. In all 3 cases the population was not armed. For Iceland, the population is small; around 350,000 people and they are really one large extended family. So order was maintained and civil displeasure allowed a relatively peaceful (so far) start for a change in government. Argentina was not so lucky and many people went cold and hungry, some died, many more were made destitute financially. The government changed, some, but the socialist attitude was not broken and they are setting up for round 2 of a currency crisis. Being a second world, bordering on third world status, they didn’t have that far to fall to rock bottom. Plus the world economy could get along without them and could even supply some real goods to cushion the fall a bit. So full chaos was averted, that time, for a while.
Russians have a lot of practical experience with shortages and crisis’s. That crisis put a new gang in power, same as the old gang. It did, temporarily, shrink the empire. This was more of an external than internal change, and stores that had little before the crisis, still had little immediately after. Being a police state, general order was maintained. And the resources that used to support the empire were directed more internally. So from the average Russian viewpoint, not much changed immediately outside of who ran the country. Things even improved as some of the economic boom since 1998 filtered into Russia. This currency crisis did cut the purchasing power of a lot of state pensions. Basically, it reduced the state overhead at the expense of the former worker.
None of these 3 was a hard currency country. As such, their ability to buy on world markets was limited to a great degree. Only Iceland was able, till recently, to push out paper and get real goods in exchange. Being small, Iceland didn’t get that many goods before their paper was called into question. Now they aren’t getting many foreign goods at all.
America though is a hard currency country. More importantly, it is the reserve currency of the planet. America’s currency crisis will for this reason have greater effects internally and externally.
Internally, one of the things that will be called into question is the attitude: “We’re Number One”. That’s been drilled into American’s since their birth. Most believe it to be their birthright. Another aspect of the American attitude is: “Bad Things Don’t Happen to America”. Katrina, the World Trade Center and the Financial Crisis are really challenging that attitude but it really hasn’t sunk in yet. Those 3 did more damage to the Federal government image than to the attitude Americans have about themselves. Which means Americans really has not changed their ways. By that I mean the attitude that: “I deserve something for nothing” is still firmly in place.
This last point is again where the law of large numbers comes into play. As the late November issue of the Privateer laid out:
According to the US Debt Clock (http://www.usdebtclock.org), the current US population is 308 million. Of that total population, just over 35 percent (108.7 million) are taxpayers. The rest are those who pay no net tax, government employees, dependents and those who are unemployed and/or on welfare. These percentages would be similar in any nation with a mature welfare state.
If you subtract Americans under 18 from the almost 200 million Americans who do not pay tax, the US is in a situation where many more people vote for a living than work for one. This too is an inevitable end result of any mature welfare state. The fact remains that in the US, 108 million productive people are supporting almost 200 million drones. Those same 108 million people are paying the ever-increasing interest bill on the so-called “public debt”. And finally, those same 108 million people are the only REAL source of the wherewithal to eventually repay the debt. At current levels of US federal government spending, it would take a cut of more than 50 percent just to balance it – especially after the servicing costs on the existing debt are taken into account. To actually BEGIN to pay the debt would take budget cuts even bigger than that. As long as more people vote for a living than work for one in the US, that simply is NOT going to happen. A productive minority CANNOT support a non-productive majority.

A currency crisis is when a country goes cold turkey on their consumption habit. Nothing is being done by the political class to prepare folks for their about to be changed status. Worse, they are being lied to that things are getting better and the standard “good times” are just around the corner. Go back and read some of the earlier chapters and you will see how John has laid out many types of individuals that didn’t see it coming, couldn’t believe it when it arrived. When it did arrive, very quickly they found themselves reclassified from First Worlders to Third Worlders.
Between the rage, wants and unfulfilled needs is why Atlanta is burning. Plus the other major metropolitan areas are going to be similarly affected. City police, even with State police assistance won’t be able to hold the line. The number of police to citizens is 300 to 1 and higher (look up your population versus the number of police to see how thin your area is). The politicians response is going to be to protect City Hall, county and state headquarters. This will leave large sections of the city without any manpower to send out to large swaths of urban areas. Plus, again as John details, the police will be taking losses. So will the citizens but where exactly do you expect the politicians real concerns to be?
One final thought on the internal situation. Besides the supply shortages, there will be weather and active sabotage events. Each year several areas of the country get hit with bad weather that takes down power lines over large areas. Or floods occur and whole communities are cut off. Areas outside the affected zone respond to these events. But this crisis happens everywhere at once. No outside response is going to be coming to rescue the day.
Active sabotage is where those sleeper cells wake up. America has made more than a few enemies over the years and the rail lines plus the high-tension power lines into the cities on those towers that dot the landscape are soft, critical targets. Imagine the manpower to guard the bridges and rail lines that stretch across the land. Ditto for all the power towers holding up the lines, many of which run through sparsely populated areas. Weather, riots, and sabotage put huge amounts of critical infrastructure at risk. Even if Washington has the emergency plans I doubt they have the resources to execute them effectively. Which quite possibly means you are on your own while the thinning of the 200 million drones goes on.
Then there are the external to the US complications. Much is being made of the stability of Pakistan and their nuclear arsenal. Do you think the rest of the world might be concerned about the largest nuclear arsenal on the planet if a currency crisis hits? This may be the best argument that a full-blown crisis will not be intentionally created. Perhaps this is what the Obama administration is counting on as they spend $2.5 trillion or more this fiscal year than they take in. Maybe they think the US is too big to fail. Maybe they hope the rest of the world doesn’t say: You’re too big to save.
That leaves the unintentional crisis scenario. Many of the socialist countries besides the US are in severe financial straights. Europe has the PIGS problem plus a lot of Eastern Europe hasn’t built well since breaking away from the Soviet Union. Much of China and SE Asia productive capacity is dedicated to mal-investments that the internal economies don’t want or have the capacity to absorb. Combine unfavorable weather (droughts and record snowfalls), very low grain reserves and a worldwide slow down in goods being shipped and this spreads the misery far beyond America’s shores. None of these areas have politicians with effective policies to put the drones to work or the time to switch mal-investments to productive use. All of the areas do want to maintain the current power structure and especially keep the privilege of the printing press.
With the banking systems all so interconnected how many of the small countries that don’t matter will it take to matter? If one of the Euro and Europe, US, Japan, or China go down can the others remain standing? If the US falls, who keeps the peace between smaller rivals like India/Pakistan or Israel and the rest of the Middle East? The vast “US interests” support a lot of dictators in a lot of places. Stress these areas with economic contraction, remove the world’s policeman and a many places will look just like the Atlanta scenario as the knives come out and old grudges are settled.
The optimist might say: Surely world leaders are wiser than that.
The realist might say: Not based on any evidence I have seen.

Wow, Perspective. Great post. In depth analysis of a fictional blog novel, and all of it is spot on. Most people will not see it coming because they refuse to. Try talking to your average person about this and watch their eyes glaze over. Only a few are able to think clearly and prepare for this in any way at all. The key issue, as others have mentioned, is indeed how the military and law enforcement people will react. If they are tools of the power elite, we are toast. If a large enough number of them see reason and morality instead, we have a chance. The government is about to collapse under the weight of its debt and bad policies. What comes out of the ashes depends on the guys with the guns. We either get disintegration of the empire or dictatorship now followed by disintegration later. Either way, lots of trouble is ahead for lots of people.

I have been following the series from Day 1. I like it.
Who knows what will happen. My guess is when the lay
abouts no longer get their government hand outs, trouble
could begin in major cities. But I have seen this type of
speculation before. I went to web crawler and found it.
“Civil War Two, the Coming Breakup of America.” 201 pp.
from Amazon. I see a free PDF file at http://www.timebomb2000.com/misc/CWII.pdf
Interesting reading although some say it slants to white
racist attitudes. Just a warning for those who may be offended. I will not defend the author but I do think we
could see ethnic divisions as did the Soviet Union and
especially Yugoslavia. Lesson here is a civil war is
really an uncivil war with plenty of human rights violations. My opinion only: the field grade officers and
single star generals of the U.S. military will be our last line of the rule of law before total insanity.

The .mil question is *THE* biggest reason why Oath Keepers may well be *THE* most important organization in our Republic today.
The wheels WILL come off at some point — I don’t believe there’s any question that we’re past the tipping-point as “perspective” so ably elucidated.
If you think our inner cities are dangerous, violent places today, just wait until the first time the welfare checks don’t come on time. All the coverup since to the contrary, Katrina showed what happens when the dependent classes outstretched hands aren’t filled on demand.
The biggest worries we should have are (1) food reserves are at historic lows due to the idiotic policy of making fuel from food and (2) we can no longer manufacture ANTIBIOTICS – much less much of anything else – without imports.
ANTIBIOTICS.
Think on that for a bit, and then try to sleep tonight.
Those who worry about police “holding the line” are fooling themselves — when things break down most of them will head for home to protect their wives and families – frankly we have no right to expect otherwise. Those left will be those without such civilizing influences – the worst of the worst from a proper civil liberties perspective.
Lastly, remember that on December 16th Dear Reader signed an Executive Order removing all restrictions on interpol, and thus granting them full immunity from arrest, search, FOIA, subpoena or – in essence – our Constitution. The restrictions he removed were put in place by Reagan to ensure they were held to the same Constitutional standards as our internal agencies. Dear Reader just revoked those restrictions.
The result is that all the alphabet-agencies can now have interpol do their dirty work for them – up to and including open murder in front of witnesses – and the best we can hope for the interpol/perp is that he be deported.
Further, anything they want to keep out of your hands can simply be handed to Interpol – their files and premises are now as untouchable as their fully-immune personnel.
The point of all this is simple: The Enemy isn’t too concerned about whether our .mil and LEOs will follow his unconstitutional orders — he’s already brought in the intelligence apparatus and bringing in foreign troops to “keep peace and order” will take just a matter of days…
If there’s any light at the end of this tunnel – light that’s not a train – it’s this: Such actions, especially the use of foreign troops against our citizens on our soil, will likely spread the revolt through our population like wildfire. Most of the sheeple will follow orders, but our own history shows us that 3% of our population — supported with beans, blankets and bandages only by another 7% or so — was sufficient to defeat the greatest military power in the world and enable our founding.
A guerilla war by the most hard-core freedom-loving 3% of our current population would be a meat-grinder that would eventually force the governments of the nations supplying the “peace-keepers” to rethink their commitments.
Freedom WOULD prevail, though the road would be horrendous. For these and other reasons I pray without ceasing that G*d will guide us out of this pit through the ballot and jury-boxes and avoid the necessity of turning to the cartridge box.
God help us, and God Save Our Republic!!
P.H.

Perspective–your comments are interesting and quite insightful. The sheriffs of each county where I live in will be in charge I am sure.Legal CCW holders could be called on to assist local law enforcement even if it only meant staying put and protecting the citizens on their own street/road and report in by CB,HAM,GMRS/FRS or other type of radio to the county sheriff. The HAM guys will be out in full force in cars or neighborhood watches. The may only be able to observe so they can forewarn adjoining streets, neighborhoods or larger areas of what is coming their way so they are not blindsided. No ambulances or drug stores open for medicine, the druggies will rob them first, get extra medicine now and a 2-3 pairs of eyeglasses too.Where I live everyone is already armed to the teeth, loaded to the gills with cannned goods and livestock feed.I fully expect alot of bloodshed as a result. The dead bodies will serve as warning to those who follow them to leave this area alone. In 1970,the US had a 3 year grain supply for every man, women and child, now we are down to about 16 pounds of food for even more people.Thats why the LDS people have been stockpiling, they knew this day was coming. All of the big cities will turn to chaos, just like New Orleans did after Katrina, but soon all of those supplies will run out and people will have to migrate to the rural areas, into another area of people armed to the teeth but with fewer numbers to protect their farms.People will need to grow potato’s,beans and other staples but will not be able to grow the crops needed to keep all livestock (pigs+chickens is easier to feed than horses)fed thru a winter. They will be forced to choose if they are going to eat the draft horse or keep it to plow the field. You may not have access to gas, propane, diesel fuel, etc.Raising pigs would be a better choice since they can be fed on many kinds of food, including the dead bodies that I am sure will pile up.Dogs and cats could be done the same way to raise animals for protection and to keep mice/vermin in control and diseases down.I KNOW ITS GROSS TO THINK ABOUT,BUT WE ARE TALKING SURVIVAL,NOT FAMILY NIGHT AT MCDONALDS.Pigs have litter of over a dozen or more.Using Pigs this way would rid the area of dead bodies before they started smelling and became a disease problem.Farmers will use these to barter with. The people who can adapt will make it,the ones that dont will the ones to die.Everyone is going to get a hard lesson in “survival of the fittest”. No more sitting on your butt and waiting for the world to come to you.You will either work and work hard or your group will throw to the wolves at the first opportunity. All of the deer, birds, rabbits, non protection non useful dogs+cats, coyotes, old horses, raccoons, squirrels, turkeys, fish and other animals would disappear in a short time due to people trying to feed themselves.Zoo’s in the cities will be hit first and destroyed and everything eaten. The point I am trying to make is now is the time to prepare as many have people have done or are doing right now.Waiting until the SHTF is not the time to formulate a plan.If you have friends or family in rural areas now is the time to get together with them and prepare to provide for yourselves so that when the time comes all you have to do is load up the family and go to the country to where all of your supplies are.If you wait, you will be forced to move all of your supplies as the roads become impassable due to all of the stealing to survive going on. You want to be in a place where you can stay put, protect yourself and your group and provide for yourselves until things settle down and order is restored.ONLY YOU will be responsible for yourself. The only law will be the law of your group or yourself. The police will not help you.Remember, how many policeman choose protecting and caring for their families safety over keeping their jobs during Katrina and were fired for doing so.If you take in others you may end up running out of supplies before order is restored and you still die.YOU MAY HAVE TO KILL SOMEONE TO PROTECT YOUR FAMILY–GET USED TO IT BECAUSE IT WILL BE YOU OR THEM–YOU MAKE THE CALL! PREPARE FOR THE WORSE AND HOPE FOR THE BEST.IF NOTHING HAPPENS THEN YOU WONT HAVE TO GO TO THE SUPERMARKET FOR A LONG,LONG,LONG TIME.Folks I truly hope I am totally 500% wrong about this,if I am,I will be the first to admit it,but do you really think I am that far off. PLEASE!!! GET YOURSELVES PREPARED SO THAT I DONT HAVE TO TURN YOU AWAY OR SHOOT YOU IN ORDER TO PROTECT MY FAMILY AND SURVIVE MYSELF,BECAUSE I ALREADY KNOW WHO WILL WIN.

I do not think we have fully comprehended the addiction of violence and the seering effect it has on the psyche. Our soldiers returning from duty overseas share that violence is addictive and there is no outlet other than other drugs or more violence.
If martial law occurs, they will have found another outlet and it will not be pretty. I pray they are on the right side of it all.

I live in rural/semi-suburbia about 30 miles outside of Raleigh, NC. I have neighbors all around, and can count 6 cows looking from my livingroom window, across the road.
I have about 130lbs of rice under the house. 50lbs of sugar, 80lbs of flour, many many totes filled with canned goods. I have one large tote filled with just cat food (I have 4 cats in the house, plus I feed one feral cat twice a day who lives under my shed).
I have alot of gold jewelry, 18 and 22kt bought from Thailand and Saudi Arabia, and a few ounces of gold coins in 1/10th oz and 1/4 oz sizes. Silver coins: 200 mercury dimes, 140 Walking Liberty quarters, and 25 Silver Eagle 1 OZ coins.
We have a well. I bought a hand pump and plumbing fixtures that I hope can be attached to the wellhead (not sure). I worry about that.
My garden is fairly large for two people, 1/4 acre but can be expanded to two acres if push came to shove. I’ll be planting exclusively red potatoes (well, some brocolli and spinach too) this spring, and when it’s done I’ll sow Dixie Lee peas and black-eyed peas.
I have ALOT of seeds. A whole lot. I have a hand-tiller, against the day when my gas runs out and I can’t use my power tiller.
I have a .38 Special with 200 cartridges, and a .22 rifle with 5,500 rounds in boxes. I’m going to buy a shotgun soon.
$9,500 in credit card debt, $10,000 in savings. I might retire my debt, but I’m holding off, to see if we hit a period of hyper-inflation. Recently I applied for and have received two new credit cards in addition to my CitiCard and Bank Of America card. These latter two are increasing their interest rates, and I plan to transfer the balances to the new cards with low interest for 10 months for balance transfers. In fact, I called and cancelled my CitiCard—they increased my interest rate from 12.9 to 18.9%. Screw them.
I’m still not satisfied. I don’t think I’ve prepared enough. Several crates of jars for preserving, dried beans, plastic bags, reading glasses; iodine, rubbing alcohol, hydrogen peroxide, bleach, etc., etc. Where is the end point? Gloves, rakes, boxes of nails and screws, fishing gear, gas, oil, salt, the list of needs goes on and on and on. I’ve bought charcoal, lighter fluid, everything I could think of. I still worry. I have 150 lbs of chicken feed, but no chickens. Plenty of chicken wire to build a coup enclosure. I don’t have any dogs, but bought several bags of dog food to barter with the local farmers. That’s how I plan to get chickens if the need does arise. I’ll trade my dog food for a few laying hens.

If I were a technician working at one of those radio stations, I would have a way to sabatoge the transmitter, so that it just looks like a normal failure, and then tell them I have no parts to fix it.
Doesn’t radio Japan transmit through a station in Florida?
Note: in any local area, there is usually only one prime spot for high frequency transmitters. In fact, maybe only one tower, upon which are placed all the antennas for police, ambulance, business and amateur two way radio repeaters. It’s usually easy to spot because it will be on a mountain or tall building.

Jonathan,
A minor correction; It was not the military seizing firearms during Katrina. It was New Orleans Police Dept, local sheriffs depts, and officers from various State Police brought in. Read “the Great New Orleans Gun Grab” for some truly horrifying stories. I personally would fear my local/state cops and the blue hats much more than American troops.

Actually it was the military also. I have a friend who went in to aid after the hurricane and the National Guard did in fact confiscate his arms even though he was in the Reserves (not active at that time for the recovery) but did bring food, medicine, etc. to help a church in one of the Parishes. It was both NG and local. Eyewitness accounts bear that out.

The most basic decision each of us has to make, if this scenario unfolds, is of a moral nature. What am I willing to do to survive? If that isn’t decided beforehand, I guarantee you will soon die. If I want your gun, and you hesitate to use it, it becomes my gun. If you decide on non-violence, than plan beforehand on either suicide, or how to make your starvation go mercifully. If the current mafia continues to control the country, we should all make this decision, since they will ship our food to China. If you decide to be proactive in your survival, and are not militarily trained, streetwise, or both, you better find someone who is to team with. A writer who survived the collapse in Argentina pointed out that it doesn’t matter how many minutes of angle you can shoot, if the punks come in thru every window at the same time. The dynamics are different if you are urban or rural. I live in Los Angeles. Any attempt at martial law would probably collapse beneath the reality of 10 million plus starving people. Many would move out like a plague of locusts. Those remaining within who organize might survive awhile. Once again, the group would have to make the moral decisions first, and than select a leader they would follow accordingly. This is no popularity contest like on TV. We are talking of reversion to warrior tribalism. If a group decides they will fight to survive, they better have a clue where this path will take them. Quiet, buffered starvation might be kinder.

I was an “extra” in the “Amerika” miniseries as it was filmed partially here in Lincoln. (I was in the the mob scene near the train station) It was a nice day and we were wearing winter coats
. I still hhve some still photos of how they transformed a small town near here into their small town set. Was very interesting. I do find it hard to believe that we could devolve in 5 days to the brutal scenario you have put forward. I tend to believe it would be over a longer period of time. As a ham, I keep telling people…study up and get your license! You never know when that skill could become very valuable.

Yeah… ya lost me with the mindless military drones… Im afraid you have zero sense of today’s soldier/sailor/ airman/marine… Collectively they are certainly more battle hardened than ten years ago, but they are very weary of the powers 2 be… Theyve gone from being “led” by one buffoon of a president to another fool from the “other” party spewing out “change” you can believe in… That change ends up being more deployments, more hellfires into Pakistan, and more Gitmo. The “change” rhetoric rings hollow with soldiers and their families. The executive branch has lost nearly all its legitimacy with the soldiers and the junior officers that lead them. They are the ones who would be charged to carry out the acts you depict. And the vast majority would NOT treat a pastor in the fashion you relate in the story above. 26 years of the Army and multiple deployments gives me the cred to say this… You listen to alex jones too much my friend… That silverspooner thinks most cops and soldiers are bloodthirsty knuckledraggers who get off violating folks civil rights for kicks. They’re not. Soldiers and the officers that lead them are as fed up with this BS as anyone… Probably more.

Just going off the scenario you crafted above… It reminded me of an alex jones rant. Its your story JG, and its entertaining, but to believe that the military will devolve in 5 days to the point of torturing elderly clergy is pretty naive? As far as weapons being confiscated, how many were confiscated by the military as they responded to: Hurricane Andrew; Wildfires in the west; Floods in the Dakotas; Tsunami in Indonesia; etc… The military responded in all those situations because civilian agencies could not… And from what I recall, no pastors (or guns) were harmed in those endeavors, at least not by the US military. Cmon now JG, who’s displaying “tardlike” behavior with your pastor scenario?

PERCHPRISM–IMHO opinion you can not ever have too much. What you dont use you can barter with to get what you need.I personally dont like GOLD because it cannot plow a field or is able to be spread on a sandwich.Gangs will take it from you at the first mention of it and most likely get nothing in return, then what.Medical supplies, garden tillers, garden tools, shovel to dig an outhouse hole, non hybrid seeds(guns, bullets in the common calibers–.22 cal longs,9mm,.40cal,45cal,.223,308,12gauge slugs and buckshot)even if you dont have a gun for some caliber, someone else might and would be willing to trade.Once someone has attacked your location you will need to scavage every gun and bullet off of any bodies to add to your arsensal. You can carry over 1000 .22cal rounds in 2 4inx4in cube boxes on your person and this allows you to kill a human, deer or a wild dog.Sleeping bags(even cheap ones, blankets, clothes, hunting boots that will last longer,GMRS/FRS/HAM/CB/AM/FM crank-powered radio’s. There wont be any programming or sporting contests for your satellite dish to recieve while the cities are burning.Being able to make home made wine or having alcohol to trade is good, think about all of the alcoholics and the cases of the DT’s,many will die from this alone.Either from now having it or trying to get alcohol and getting shot for trying.Games to keep kids entertained and I am not talking about the ones that need batteries. You may not have any electric.Take your animals to the vet and get all of their shots so you covered for the next year.Gasoline stored in plastic containers will go bad quickly, use steel (55gal and jerrycans)containers with a fuel additive for gas with ethanol.STORING FUEL IS DANGEROUS/store away from buildings–BE VERY CAREFUL.Fishing equipment, compound, crossbow or recurve bows(xtra arrows)to make silent kills without the noise of a gunshot.Shooting a animal in the head with a .22cal gun will be better than using a 30.06 since you may not want many to hear it-get that “MACHO” crap out of your head,IT WILL GET YOU KILLED. Five gallon buckets, soap powder a “clean” commode plunger will be you the new way to wash your clothes.DONT DO YOUR LAUNDRY IN THE STREAMS OR YOU MAY GET YOURSELF KILLED FOR POLLUTING SOME ONE’S DRINKING WATER DOWNSTREAM.Pour into your outhouse pit.
No one has to be a victim. We all have alot of what we need already but havent put it all together.THINK OF WHAT YOU NEED TO TAKE WITH YOU TO GO CAR CAMPING FOR 3MONTHS.If you do this you will find it more easier to organize what you have.
I could go on and on and on,YOU HAVE MORE THAN YOU REALIZE.DONT TELL A SOUL WHAT YOU ARE DOING OR THEY MAY ROB OF IT WHEN THE SHTF.THINK ABOUT HOW A BUTTERFLY SURVIVES IN THE JUNGLE,IT FLOATS ABOVE ALL OF THE MESS BELOW!!! People will call you names to start a fight, you have to put your pride aside and survive the war,not just that battle.Needlessly fighting every Tom,Dick and Harry will wear you down and lower your supplies quickly, believe me there will be lots wanting to take you on.DONT FIGHT UNLESS YOU ARE BACKED INTO A CORNER–IF YOU CAN ESCAPE,RUN LIKE O.J.SIMPSON IS ON YOUR ASS WITH A MACHETE AND HE’S WANTING TO KILL YOU! Your goal is to survive, not win a dumb agruement.I am sorry for making a second post but I felt compelled to do so because while some of you may be calling a vulgar names right now,I may have saved someones life by not having them show up in my neck of the woods with their family and paying the ultimate price for not following my advice.I do not wish any harm to anyone, but my family is going to be protected and fed,not attacked, weakened and DEAD!!!

In response to those who think a Marine would never turn against the innocent public. I know personally a former Marine who is now with the FBI. He is in favor of totally disarming the population RIGHT NOW and doesn’t care what the Constitution says. In a way, I don’t blame him. His viewpoint is purely selfish and is one I’m sure we would see expressed by a number of people in any massive disaster situation.
He doesn’t think for one moment that all the guns could be taken off the streets. He does believe that every gun taken away from the general population is one less gun that could be trained on him when he is performing “his job”. As I said, a purely selfish motive. However, I understand it and am sure that there are many in all walks of the military, and police that would agree.
This is the same person who commented (almost wistfully it seemed) that it would be easier for him to kill me than to get the necessary papers for a wire tap.
Tell me again about Marines? I’m sure that a number of them are honorable but I have to remember, they are just human.

Where to begin….Japan, South Korea’s, Singapore’s, China’s and India’s economies would fall apart quicker than ours if they stopped shipping manufactured goods to us. They depend on our purchases to live. Seizing American corporate property, such as it is, would do them no good, since most American companies are as much owned by Europeans and Asians as Americans. The few that are overseas not involved in the trade of manufactured items are financial services companies, with local partners who own the real property.
And the government of Mexico seizing American property, no such thing in Mexico. American companies there exist only to export goods to the U.S. It would do them no good to seize them if they will not accept dollars in exchange for payment.
There is no American real property in China, what can they seize. All American companies there work with a local partner. KFC doesn’t own restaurants, their partner does and licenses the brand and product, usually locally produced. If they don’t pay us for exported chickens and rice, what will they eat? Much less if they don’t accept dollars for textiles and electronic goods they sell us.
When you owe the bank a million dollars, the bank owns you, if you owe the bank a billion dollars, then you own the bank.
So, what happens to BMW and Mercedes if they can’t export to the American market, alot of unemployed Germans and Turks. Probably the American plants will remain open.
Nice story, but it does not work in real life. The rest of the world can’t seize real property in the U.S., so there is nothing they can do. Much less Japan, Taiwan, Korea, Africa, and Mexico stop buying our food. LOL
Lets see Mexico stop buying American corn. The price of tortillas would skyrocket, causing food riots. Much less what would happen else where.

Mr Galt , Excellent work sir . Let me point somthing out , I hope when I do that I am not getting ahead of the story . When the Martial law does happen here in the US for real lets not forget that the president IS a socialist and one of his first edicts will be : NO Hoarding ! So all of us ” Preppers ” ( The name given to us who are Stocking up to prepare for the worst) now become Law Breakers . Not to many of us are going to give up everything we have saved up for . Along with that we will be told to “Share” everything in our gardens with neighbors . That will stop everyone from wanting to grow one . Because if you have ever tended a garden you know its backbreaking labor . And you will not be able to keep what you grow or preserve it for your family … Just my opinion Sir.

The concept of median gardens and community farms will spread like wildfire.
Of course do I want some dumb ass hippy dope smoking book store clerk working in my garden with his stoned friends?
Uh, no.
They can “grow their own” at their own tent in the government owned commune.
It is about to begin. Thus the early start date of this story………

Just a little anecdote…at our house we have food and supplies stockpiled, etc., but my stepdaughter recently stayed over with a friend in a nearby small city. This friend lived in an urban area in a house with 8 kids and 3 or 4 adults all on food stamps. They had no food in the house other than some instant grits. They would go out and buy the day’s food every day for 11 or 12 people. That is COMMON. What do you think these people and their neighbors will be looking for a day or two after TSHTF?

Duplicate post for format clarity.
“To anyone who thinks the [whoever] won’t be confiscating lawfully held weapons, just take a look at some of the videos from New Orleans during Katrina.”
The law-abiding in Katrina still had respect for TPTB and did not shoot back. The previous and current administrations have done / are doing everything possible to destroy the legitimacy of .gov in the eyes of the citizenry. I think it will take more than laws and paperwork to disarm this country.

I have shared this Internet obtained information with only my friends.I feel the time has come to share this with the rest of you.
IF THIS DOESNT MAKE YOU WANT TO GO OUT AND BUY A FIREARM TO PROTECT YOURSELF BEFORE THE SHTF,NOTHING WILL,FOR YOU AND YOUR FAMILY WILL BE DEAD,DEAD,DEAD!!!
Please read these two articles with case law cited in both as to why the police only have to protect “THE CRIMINALS-NOT YOU! They only have to protect the people they have locked up,because they cant defend themselves. Folks, this is what your government has done to you after playing by the rules and laws they wrote, paying your taxes, raising your family and paying into your 401K for all of those years. Law enforcement has no constitutional duty to protect any citizen from 3rd party harm.

http://www.endtimesreport.com/NO_AFFIRMATIVE_DUTY.HTM
Please share these articles with as many family and friends.IMHO,this shows me beyond a reasonable doubt that when the SHTF you and I will get “NO HELP” from any law enforcement of any kind.
THIS IS NOT FICTION–THIS IS THE LAW OF THE LAND.
In fact,if you see law enforcement coming to your house during this time, they are more than likely coming to “DISARM YOU-NOT HELP YOU”. Please read and look up the case law and form your own opinion,I have. I would also like to ask the administator of this website to publish both of these articles so that everyone can see this info since I have posted it so late on this thread.

Everyone, I am very sorry, I am not the most computer savy person here. I have gone back and rechecked everything and cannot understand the problem. So, lets skin this cat another way.
Please Google “End Times Report.Com”. Go to that site and start down the page until you see sections Essential tools, Blacksmithing, Home Defense, Reloading .410 bore shotshells. The next section “GOVERNMENT HAS NO AFFIRMATIVE DUTY TO PROTECT US” is the section you want to read.Click on this and you should be at the correct section.
For the second article please Google “FRFROGSPAD.COM”. This website is the home of the Jeff Cooper archives. Jeff is no longer with us but he has trained thousands of people in how to protect themselves in difficult life and death situations.
Once you are at FRFROGSPAD.com look for the “Cross of St.George” and the “NEVER FORGET American Flag”. Under that is the site index and below that you will see 2 columns with different headings. Go down the right side column until you come to “POLICE PROTECTION”. Click on this and you should be where you can read the article.
Let me add that the “FRFROGSPAD.COM” website is overflowing with all kinds of excellent information. “”"IT WOULD BE IN YOUR BEST INTEREST TO READ EVERY SINGLE WORD!”"” He has info on what one person went thru as Hurricane Katrina was happening. His 30 days of supplies were gone in 3 days because people brought other people to his home to ride out the storm. Read what this person had to put up when people who were not prepared showed up at his house unannounced. While the hurricane may have blown straight thru and was over in 3-4 days many people were caught unprepared and wanted someone else to bail their “SORRY BUTTS OUT OF THE FIRE”. WE ARE NOT GOING TO HAVE THAT LUXURY THIS TIME AROUND! While many of you have read my recent posts on this site and thought that I was some kind of crazy lunatic I am sure that once you have accessed the same info as I have you will indeed want to thank me and not curse me. I DO NOT WANT THE HERO WORSHIP–I WANT YOU TO GET YOU,YOUR FAMILY AND FRIENDS PREPARED FOR THE WORSE!! WHAT’S COMING IS NOT GOING TO BE OVER IN A WEEK,A YEAR OR MAYBE LONGER. You have to be prepared to ride out this storm. Not only are we heading for a financial crisis, we are fighting a war that the enemy that keeps popping up in a different country everytime we go after them. Add this to all of the ISLAMIC fighting men in various compounds around the US have disappeared(ISLAMBERG,NY also called HANCOCK,NY–google that and read)it is easy to see that something is going to happen. IMHO,I strongly feel that we are heading for another war and the folks in DC are going to start the draft up again and send your sons and daughters off to war in a foreign land. Not to forget that MR.Obama would then have his personnel for his “MILLION MAN SECURITY FORCE PLAN TO BE PUT INTO ACTION”. Isnt odd that he was saying this before he took office. Do you wonder why? Was he told of some grand plan of the corporate elites and now he is trashing the US to get us set up for that form of govt control. IS IT THE CLOWARD-PIVEN STRATEGY PUT INTO EFFECT ON A GLOBAL SCALE? IT WOULD SEEM SO TO ME. Is that what others have posted here concerning the Hoarding of Supplies are talking about where you will be arrested for not sharing what you have with everyone else? Again, I do not wish anyone any harm but I am not going to save the sorry butts of people who didnt do a DAMN THING TO PREPARE!
If you read the 3 sites I have posted you will see the bill that was submitted in Congress last year. Be sure to read all of it and the various examples of self protection that are listed within the language of the bill.
Thanks John for put this information out for all to see.I hope everyone can access this information because it could save your life.
GOD, I HOPE I AM WRONG ABOUT ALL OF THIS THAT I HAVE SHARED WITH YOU. MYSELF AND OTHERS WHO HAVE SEEN IT ARE NOT SO SURE.

God’s Holy Word tells us what to expect in the future in the way of prophecy. MRBIGMUTTS is ‘right-on’ in what he is saying and if we are not prepared for the calamity(s) coming
upon us we are going to be really hurting in many ways. I am
66 years old and not in the best physical health, but I do know that there are things I can do to prepare and I am doing them. Along with physical preparation, we all must be prepared spiritually to endure some horrendous things which are coming upon us. As a final word: “May God have mercy on
us”…

Thank you BOBN and A-FRIEND for your assistance. EMMETTE MIDDLETON I hope you have family and friends that will protect you and keep you safe.I am sure you can still point and shoot a rifle and that alone would get into my group as a keeper.Your age means nothing to us and would not be counted against you. All of us can do something. GOD BLESS YOU!

For me, what the scene with the soldiers needed was a little anger expressed by them. There is a hint that something really bad has happened, like maybe some of their fellow soldiers were lured into an ambush by a phony plea for help. Without the anger, they come across like Nazi death camp guards calmly leading people to the gas chambers. That bothers us, because we don’t expect our soldiers to act that way. Anger at an atrocity, while not excusing their actions, would at least make them understandable.

Good Job. I’ve traveled a lot of the areas you describe in your story and it really brings it home for me. I’ve lived in Atlanta as well as other larger cities such New Orleans, St. Louis and Washington DC. I know all to well that you do not want be any near these cities when the SHTF.
I’m not a racist person but, I can’t say the same for my black brothers and sisters. I’ve often thought about what would be the most immediate life threatening thing that would come from a societal break down and I keep coming back to the race thing. WHY? Just look at the Rodney King riots in Los Angeles. It all started because the police beat the crap out of some black guy geeked up on drugs. “YES, I KNOW IT WAS WRONG” but that’s not the point.
If they will burn down there own city because some guy got his but kick by the cops. What do you think will happen when the rule of law breaks down because of economic collapse? No money, no food, and mad as hell that they are not getting what they need to survive. If I remember correctly, they started targeting cops/whites shortly after all hell broke loose. Most of the robbing/looting/and burning had nothing to do with the Rodney King verdict. Simply said, the riot presented once in a lifetime opportunity for them.
Remember how fast it happened?
The aftermath of Katrina in New Orleans was more of the same. Try to wrap your mind around this, these ghetto thugs were shooting at the rescue helicopters while trying to save people from rooftops in New Orleans. They also tried to light up the 9th ward but, so much was under water that the fires did not spread. Most fires burned out on there own because the emergency workers were over extended.
AND THE COPS?
They bugged out……. Do I blame them?………..Not one bit.
If you know New Orleans like I know New Orleans, you will agree that a certain percentage of our brothers and sisters stayed because of the easy pickings in the aftermath. Again, the storm presented once in a lifetime opportunity for them.
Remember how fast it happened?
If our society breaks down. The large inner cities will be no go zones. It will be like warlords in Mogadishu. Most large cities will be burning with in two weeks of a melt down and when they figure out that they can’t eat all the TV’s, spinner rims, and sneakers they looted. They will start to venture out of the cities in search of food. And who has the food?
RIGHT!!!!……………………Once again, whitey will be looked upon as a resource.

Federale…. dude you don’t have a friggin clue..
John, love this work of yours.. Ignore the morons who are “experts”. I find it hillarious that you write a FICTIONAL STORY, one that is intended to make people think and morons like federale sit here and try to pick it apart with their armchair quarterback mentality.. FEDRALE.. write your own story! One more thing. as I have explained to many morons who think China needs the USA consumer.. have you checked the baltic dry index.. China has the population size of 4 USA’s those people are attaining middle class status. They could care less if the American consumer can keep purchasing from them, and that does not include another billion people In India who they sell too. Some of you friggin fools don’t have a clue. Again John Thank you for what I consider a Brilliant work and forget about idiots like federale who doesn’t have a clue.
