It Pays to be Gay in Cambridge, MA

By John Galt
July 11, 2011

The more absurd the extreme left acts, the more bizarre the news gets on a daily basis. This story could be found on dozens of sources bu the U.K.’s Daily Mail sums it up best with this headline:

The U.S. city set to pay gay employees more than straight

When I first read the story I thought it was a joke.

It isn’t.

From the story:

When the city of Cambridge issues paychecks to its public employees, 22 gay workers find a federal tax on their income that their heterosexual colleagues don’t have to pay.

Like many people, these school and city workers chose to put their spouses on their employer-provided health insurance.

Because they’re in a homosexual relationship, the federal government taxes that health coverage.

As a result, this month Cambridge will be the first in the country to pay its public employees a stipend to defray the cost of the federal tax.

The city employees hit by the extra tax pay an additional $1,500 to $3,000 in taxes a year and officials estimate the stipends would cost the city an additional $33,000.

In other words to fix a non-Constitutional inequality, the city of Cambridge, Massachusetts is going to create another one. The most amazing thing is that these cities and states my claim that this is a fairness issue. However when the local government runs into financial difficulties, the first thing these quasi-Marxists do is cry to their Federally elected officials to demand a hand out because they don’t want to go bankrupt. That of course results in my tax dollars being shipped to them for a program and “right” that I had no say, no vote, or no rights to protest or demand redress.

Personally speaking, I could care less about anyone’s sexuality or this stupid, inane, waste of time issue on gay marriage. The government at any level has no business licensing of relationships or determining the regulatory structure of relationships or defining marriage. I also feel that the government has no business providing handouts, benefits, or special dispensations to citizens either thus preventing these claims of “fairness” and “inequality” which are false political claims designed to polarize the electorate.

This story is just one more indication that our society is culturally and morally bankrupt and on its way to a crash unseen in human history since the collapse of Rome.
