8/13 18:42 ET: Bachmann Wins Iowa Straw Poll, Dr. Ron Paul comes in Second

Breaking now, Congresswoman Michele Bachmann wins the Iowa Straw Poll with 4,823 votes, Congressman Ron Paul with 4,600 votes comes in second.

This should be a hint that the old monied country club Republicrats are not going to be accepted by the more conservative, Tea Party type, Constitutionalists.

Updated, here are the results from the Des Moines Register website:

  • First place: Michele Bachmann: 4,823 votes
  • Second place: Ron Paul: 4,671 votes
  • Third place: Tim Pawlenty: 2,293 votes
  • Fourth place: Rick Santorum: 1,657 votes
  • Fifth place: Herman Cain:1,456 votes
  • Sixth place: Rick Perry: 718
  • Seventh place: Mitt Romney: 567 votes
  • Eighth place: Newt Gingrich: 385 votes
  • Ninth place: Jon Huntsman: 69 votes
  • Tenth place: Thaddeus McCotter: 35 votes
  • Total: 16,892 votes were cast

Without a doubt this is a total disaster for Romeny, Gingrich, and Huntsman along with a horrid showing for Pawlenty. The RINOs have been somewhat exposed by this straw poll.
