Just when you think the circus that is the Donald Trump for President campaign can’t go any more insane, the Trumpster decided to fire, er, “demote” Paul Manafort as his campaign manager and hire guess who?
That’s right, someone with no experience, a Republican pollster by the name of Kellyanne Conway who has never run any type of national campaign in her career.
But it gets better.
Trump must have had a Twitter enlightenment moment because he doubled down with his hire for the position of campaign chief executive (from Politico):
Donald Trump, whose presidential bid has been stumbling badly in recent weeks, is reshuffling his campaign’s senior leadership.
The Republican nominee tapped pollster Kellyanne Conway as campaign manager and Breitbart News Chairman Stephen Bannon as campaign chief executive, Conway confirmed to POLITICO early Wednesday morning.
The news was first reported by the Wall Street Journal.
Trump told the paper “I want to win,” and “That’s why I’m bringing on fantastic people who know how to win and love to win.”
Campaign chairman Paul Manafort, who had been effectively running the campaign for the last two months, will stay on in his current position.
But the shakeup seems to represent a diminution of his authority at a time when Trump’s campaign is sliding in polls versus Democratic rival Hillary Clinton, and has been badly damaged by a string of controversies stemming from Trump’s own impolitic pronouncements.
That’s right Trumpbart, er, Breitbart News Chairman Bannon who has run uh, zero, Presidential campaigns or national campaigns in his life.
The disaster which is the Trump campaign is going to be the greatest “See, I told you so” moment for those of us who warned this clown was not who he said he was.
However, that will not stop the Trumptards from believing in their own, personal, Cheetos Jesus (ode to Depeche Mode).
