DXpedition to Jost Van Dyke, British Virgin Islands Loggings and Videos

Hello to all my friends and followers. While many of you have expressed genuine concern about my father, well, what I know so far is that I’ll find out more in the next two weeks. It is touch and go and unpredictable as cancer goes and for those that have endured this, I now totally understand what you meant about the frustration. Thank you all for your support.

In the mean time, my wife and I had this trip planned for over a year and with my Dad’s blessings decided to go to a villa on Jost Van Dyke in the British Virgin Islands. During this trip I decided to turn it into a mini-DXpedition and wow were conditions good considering the QRN at my locale in Florida!

I think the best way to do this is highlight the loggings along with the video recordings of some of my favorite logs which I recorded during the trip.

If my readers are wondering where Jost Van Dyke is, here is a map to provide some perspective:

I only used the Soggy Dollar Bar as a point of reference because I think it is now my second home (and yes that picture at the top was my view for six days).

With that established, here is what I heard using a Tecsun PL-880 and a Sony AN-61 wire antenna and nothing more (all times UTC):

I apologize for the jerky videos but I did not think reception would be as good as it was from our mountain top villa. Next time I’ll bring my better rig.

Remember gang, this is a hobby, enjoy it and take advantage of the openings when you get them!

Your story has me reliving 20 years ago.

It is good you found some time to get away. You could always start up a place on the ocean…
    Ocean Waves and Radio Waves

    • I completely agree. I’m ready to go back tomorrow instead of flying and driving back and forth to my parents.s..
