The Secretary of Defense, Leon Panetta, has renewed the push to cede American sovereignty with his call for the U.S. Senate to ratify the Law of the Sea Treaty. This treaty which has been discussed for years as a direct assault on America’s rights to use its waterways and coastal resources as we see fit, along with the removal of private property rights of corporations and citizens with the internationalization of water rights, is an abomination which must be blocked from ratification. In the article from RTT News Panetta takes a new approach claiming this treaty is beneficial for national defense purposes:
Fifth, the Secretary said, the new U.S. defense strategy emphasized the strategically vital arc extending from the Western Pacific and East Asia into the Indian Ocean region and South Asia.
“Becoming a party to the Convention would strengthen our position in this key area,” said Panetta who argued that the Convention would stop countries in this arc from proposing restrictions on access for military vessels in the Indian Ocean, Persian Gulf, and the South China Sea.
Later in the article he promotes the false theory that the LOST is necessary to help isolate Iran, a straw man argument. This new tactic is worthy of a call to my reader’s Senators to ensure they refuse to vote for this abomination and that the treaty remains on the shelf as it does not strengthen the United States but in fact destroys much of our remaining sovereignty all in the name of globalism.
