5/31 Voice of Galt: Doomer Tuesday with The China Syndrome at Fukishima and in the Economy

By John Galt May 31, 2011 Uh-oh, it’s that day of the week again…. Tonight, an abbreviated program with only 1 hour because I’ve been helping the team set up a new network home where we can broadcast live, take phone calls, and best of all? Bring the loyal fans the news AS IT HAPPENS, unfiltered, un-MSMed (That’s a polite way for a word you can not do to yourself), and with Constitutional viewpoints that keep you from drifting into the usual muck presented on…

Will the ECB Blink and allow the Greece Fire to Spread?

Will the ECB Blink and allow the Greece Fire to Spread?

By John Galt May 30, 2011 The race against time is being expressed by the news which Reuters just flashed across the wires: EU racing to draft second Greek bailout: sources If the European Union fails to conclude a new agreement for the Greeks, then odds of a default rise substantially and would create instability within the European banking system. The bigger issue which has the banksters terrified in Germany, Belgium, Holland, France, and Austria is that by allowing Greece to default instead of continuing…

Governor Rick Scott Takes a Stand on PBS

Governor Rick Scott Takes a Stand on PBS

By John Galt May 30, 2011 Much to the chagrin of the liberal pantywaists who think that 90% of America wants to watch state sponsored pro-Marxist news and shows about earth conscious flower arranging from left wing loons, our Governor of Florida FINALLY did something that Constitutionally minded pro-freedom Americans can support (from the 5/29 NY Times): Florida Governor Vetoes PBS Funding   That’s right. Gnashing of teeth. Whining. Crying. Belly-aching about that evil bastard in charge. The reality is that Florida is a…

The Pending Home Sales Disaster on Friday

The Pending Home Sales Disaster on Friday

By John Galt May 28, 2011 The nightmare report from the National Association of Realtors (NAR) yesterday was mixed with humor from Lawrence Yun and a notable shift in the double dip portion of America’s housing industry disaster. With upwards of one third of all existing home sales anchored by distressed sales, the pending home sales report usually reflects a trend of recovery or further decline and based on the four month average the market is headed for a serious deterioration as the index is…

Q1 Revised GDP: Welcome to Stall Speed

Q1 Revised GDP: Welcome to Stall Speed

By John Galt May 26, 2011 All you need to know why this report from the Bureau of Economic Analysis is indicating the economy is at stalling speed: - 2nd revision was the same as the advanced report at 1.8% despite a consensus of 2.2% and some estimates it would be revised as high as 2.5% or more. - Core PCE was 1.4% revised down from 1.5% indicating fading demand in the face of inflation for consumer necessities. - Current-production cash flow (net cash flow…

China Tries to Kill the Euro Shorts one more time

China Tries to Kill the Euro Shorts one more time

By John Galt May 25, 2011 Gee, is China trying to pump up precious metals prices or screw the Eurozone? This story from Bloomberg tonight: Euro Advances on Report China Interested in Buying European Bailout Bonds is an indication of the desperation of the world’s central banksters to keep the fiat merry-go-round going one more day, week, or month. The Euro did advance nicely as you can see in the chart below, but is China going to be there to bail our all of the…

A Sad Silent Key: Mark Haines, CNBC 1946-2011

By John Galt May 25, 2011 It is truly a sad moment for those who followed Mark Haines career at CNBC. He was one of the few journalists who actually asked the hard questions and did not participate in the financial markets as either a cheerleader or reporter with an agenda. Godspeed to you Mr. Haines and may everyone pray for his family.

April Durable Goods – 3.6% in Major Unexpected Miss

April Durable Goods – 3.6% in Major Unexpected Miss

By John Galt May 25, 2011 Ouch. From a plus 4.4% to a 3.6% decline is a massive miss. New orders for capital goods minus defense was down 2.6% and that means the future economic growth prospects are murky at best. The full report from the Commerce Department is fairly bleak especially with the decline of 3.4% in machinery orders even though it is still above the 2010 numbers. Have no fear, QEXX.xx will save the day eventually.

Israel Apparently bombed Syrian Nuke Site in 2007 per U.N.

Israel Apparently bombed Syrian Nuke Site in 2007 per U.N.

By John Galt May 25, 2011 Astonishingly enough, the world is not heaping praise on Israel from preventing a murderous dictator from developing nuclear weapons. I know that seems shocking to the readers of these pages but the IAF may have saved the world from Hezbollah getting their terrorist hands on functioning atomic weapons or at least nuclear material for making dirty bombs. The Obama administration has offered no measurable mainstream commentary on this report although they are playing the “human rights” angle against the…

The Battle for 76 on the USDX Continues

The Battle for 76 on the USDX Continues

By John Galt May 25, 2011 From FinViz.com: The key numbers to watch are 76.60 and 75.70ish as the battle for 76 is enjoined by the JCB which wants a stronger dollar and the ECB which wants a weaker Euro to aid their exports and enable their weak institutions to borrow on the cheap. The battler for fiat insanity is being fought this summer and once the Euro breaks 1.40 with authority they will hold the lead in the devaluation sweepstakes.

MBA Purchase Index for Previous Week Reports a Surprise Increase

MBA Purchase Index for Previous Week Reports a Surprise Increase

By John Galt May 25, 2011 Could it be? A report indicating a 3.1% increase in the week over week unadjusted purchase index over last year, mind you last year’s number was really bad in May 2010, indicating there could be a sign of life in the mortgage industry? The MBA Weekly Report reflects just that and if we could get a sustained trend of increases it might start to save some of the remaining construction jobs in America.

The April New Home Sales Report: Filtering out the Propaganda

By John Galt May 24, 2011 First, read the propaganda from the MSM: Home Sales Buoy Hopes for Real Estate Wall Street Journal - Robbie Whelan US new home sales at 4-month high, supply drops Economic Times New Home Sales Pick Up For Second Straight Month NPR U.S. April new home sales up 7.3% MarketWatch - Greg Robb New home sales up in all regions, inventory at historic lows AgentGenius The last headline is particularly amusing because when you break down the truth of the inventory story…

Chicago Fed National Activity Index for April: Worst Reading since August 2010

Chicago Fed National Activity Index for April: Worst Reading since August 2010

By John Galt May 23, 2011 The report from the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago on the economy (CFNAI-Click here for the full report .pdf) is brutal. The reading came in at a -0.45, the worst reading since the -0.53 reading of August 2010. Only the employment aspect of the report showed an increase and that could be a part time hiring spree based on seasonal factors rather than sustained economic growth. Buckle up as it would appear we are heading into the recession that…

US Dollar Index Poised for run at 78 then 80

US Dollar Index Poised for run at 78 then 80

By John Galt May 23, 2011 The following chart from FinViz.com says it all: If the markets close above 76 or 77 today, odds are we could see the US dollar index rally past the 80 level within the next two weeks. That being established, this is a huge move which will create massive pressure on profits for U.S. multinationals and squeeze their margins even further.  This move could also parallel the recent parabolic moves witnessed in some commodities which resulted in sharp 3-5% moves…

Italian Stock Market getting Waylaid this Morning

Italian Stock Market getting Waylaid this Morning

By John Galt May 23, 2011 For once, S&P is a little proactive even if they are late to the party. The bigger questions are when do they start downgrading Belgium and the other nations hiding behind the PIIGS crisis. Right now the Italian FTSE-MIB index is down 2.92% which I would consider a major bad meatball in the pasta there. The crisis is just now cranking up and as the Italian market careens towards 20,000 then 15,000 as the economic situation worsens in the…

Vladimir Putin Rejects GOP

Vladimir Putin Rejects GOP

By John Galt May 23, 2011 Vladimir Putin, the former KGB singing sensation, spurned the GOP and instead has elected to run for the President of Russia once again. The full story can be found in this story from The Australian: Putin decides to retake presidency   The crisis in Russia is more of confidence rather than a growing economic crisis as Medvedev has given the appearance of weakness on the international stage, something which is totally unacceptable to the Russian people. On the flip…

Spanish Election Results Roil the Forex Markets

Spanish Election Results Roil the Forex Markets

By John Galt May 23, 2011 The results from the elections in Spain were pretty much as expected but now the concerns over the Eurozone are front and center once again. Italy’s downgrade by S&P, Greece agreeing not to restructure their debts (which means eventual default, IMHO), and the worries over the real condition of the municipal budgets in numerous cities in Spain have all created the perfect Forex storm to sell the Euro. Chart from FinViz.com:   After testing the 1.39 level again it…

The News Story of Sunday: Protest Rocked Spain Votes Today

The News Story of Sunday: Protest Rocked Spain Votes Today

By John Galt May 22, 2011 The outcome of today’s Spanish elections after a week of heavy and illegal protesting will tell the tale of the tape for the currency markets and the long festering problems of the PIIGS. With S&P downgrading Italy on Friday night (See WSJ- “S&P Lowers Outlook on Italy to Negative on Debt-Plan Risks”), the outcome of this election could well determine the future of the Eurozone as Spain has been declared the line of demarcation and the banksters know that…

Sorry Folks, I’m Still Here Unraptured as Ever

By John Galt May 21, 2011 Although I won’t be in the Florida Keys to enjoy this glorious sunrise or one like it tomorrow, I will be here and enjoy the view from beautiful Florida. While the gentleman from Family Radio may have been bold, on the cutting edge, and quite possibly seeking glory in his prediction for TEOTWAWKI today, that book which many non-believers find “pesky” did state that the day and time will be a secret. So enjoy this sunrise from one of…

Follow the Rapture Day via WYFR’s Shortwave Broadcasts

By John Galt May 21, 2011 Just to make things clear, I do not believe this organization knows who, what, when, or where because the book did sort of spell out that no man would know despite his proclamations. WYFR is the international and domestic broadcasting arm for Harold Camping’s religious organization and the station should broadcast the event or something related to the event throughout the day. With all of that in mind, here is a link to all of their frequencies, languages, and…

The Big Story of the Week: Welcome Back to 1962

The Big Story of the Week: Welcome Back to 1962

By John Galt May 20, 2011 In 1962 the Soviet Union constructed Intermediate Range Ballistic Missile (IRBM) launchers 90 miles off of the coast of Florida in a blatant act to escalate the Cold War and bluff the United States into strategic concessions including arms negotiations because of the nuclear arms race that we were not prepared to make. Fast forward to the news this week from the German magazine Der Welt via The Jerusalem Post: ‘Die Welt’: Iran building rocket bases in Venezuela This…
