It’s All Falling Apart: Nepal Edition

When these pages last reviewed nations in the throes of violence and economic disintegration, the discussion focused on Cuba, Mozambique, and Martinque, all in October of last year. The perpetual spin and chaos machines of Wall Street and Washington however has kept these pages distracted from the global insanity.

Sadly, it is time to start watching the world as many are beginning to doubt US omnipotence once again and the streets are on fire.

With the military seizing power last night, odds are the nation will start to calm down a bit but the economic damage has been done. Tourism, especially climbing Mount Everest and other Himalayan Mountains, is their number one industry. Riots and burning people alive tends to be adverse for this particular industry so it will be most interesting to see how the country returns to the peaceful, idyllic place that the hippies and adventurers worldwide once knew.
