While the world is focused on the peace plan in the Middle East, Africa continues to deal with what is being called the “Generation Z Rebellions” as inflation and decades of corruption are finally coming home to roost for many of these governments.
For the moment, the protests in Gambia and in Morocco have calmed down as the leaders has promised to accelerate economic reforms but the same can not be said for many other places in Francophone Africa.

And of course, once the military joined with the youth, President Rajoelina blamed everyone but his administration for the emergence of coup led by the military.
However, once he lost the elite in his military, Rajoelina had no choice but to flee.
The videos emerging from the protests are somewhat disturbing. At least with the elite of the Madagascar military, the CAPSAT corps joining on the side of the youth, the President flew out of the country to French territory where it is believed he continued on to the UAE.

While this a potentially good outcome, why are all of these corrupt leaders doing everything they can to remain in power?
Perhaps a quick look at their rare earth mineral resources like the one Rio Tinto has or the graphite mine in this country along with gold mining answers the question. It is a poor nation with massive natural resources and the battles between the east and west over this has only just begun.
