The Day the Dollar (Tree) Died

I apologize up front to my fans who think this is a new sequel to my “Day the Dollar Died” blovel. Unfortunately, I do not have the time nor ability to write anything fictional which compares to the reality we are living now.

Way, way, way, back in the day as the 2007-2009 financial depression started and accelerated, especially in mid-2008, I started posting a series of threads on the Dollar Tree inflation indicator. In summation I pointed out the shrinkflation executed by the chain to keep prices at one dollar while packaging and/or quantities were reduced.

As I finished up my radio and podcasting career what stood out to me was that the Dollar Tree inflation indicator was only valid until prices destroyed the dollar and the ability of the stores to keep pace. The news that came out today truly indicates that the Dollar Tree has now died (via Best Life):

Dollar Tree Just Announced a Major Change to Pricing

When I heard the news, I thought to myself, this is it, America is toast just like when I saw the last five and dime shut down; as this excerpt demonstrates:

On Sept. 28, Dollar Tree, Inc. announced new price changes for its original Dollar Tree stores. According to the announcement, the company “will begin testing additional price points above $1 in selected legacy Dollar Tree stores.” The company did not indicate exactly which products would be more than $1 in price or which specific Dollar Tree stores will be introducing these higher-priced items. But, according to The Wall Street Journal, more than 100 legacy stores will carry the more expensive products.

“Our brand promise is that customers get great value for what they spend at Dollar Tree. We will continue to be fiercely protective of that promise, regardless of the price point, whether it is $1.00, $1.25, $1.50,” Michael Witynski, the president and chief executive officer of Dollar Tree, said in a statement.

Inflation, the cruelest tax of them all, finally hits home. Despite elitist popular belief that only trailer park trash shops at Dollar Trees and other dollar stores, there is a large portion of the middle class that enjoys saving money there also. But true to form, the most intelligent people in the world who occupy our corrupt Federal Reserve and Wall Street fail to tell the truth that inflation is a tax on the poor.

This tax could literally mean a choice between cloths, food, medicine or transportation for the working poor who can not obtain any of the myriad of government assistance programs because of bureaucratic selectivity which chooses the winners and losers despite qualifications.

This is insane.

The American people are told over and over again that there is no inflation, yet this chart from Shadowstats.com tells the truth when inflation is calculated using the 1980’s standard and not the political standards used today:

Needless to say the news from the Dollar Tree now confirms America’s worst fears under Bidenomics:

America has returned to a far less free, nastier, version of the Carter years.
